Maybe prior CVARs coded for the NPC Free Choice System back at the mod's launch back in 2020 have seen to a major redesign. Anyone wishing to modify the menu for themselves will also receive this benefit!įurthermore, we streamlined the UI and code a bit more to make accessing customization options and using them much more user friendly and engine friendly. Another cool thing is that now the Character and NPC menu will now share the same menu! Thus saving space!Īdditionally, thanks to the wonderful people at JK:Enhanced, we have also implemented the ability to manually spin around your respective character from any horizontal angle! We also coded a new feeder system so we no longer have to take up precious Menu memory space on manually inserting every single character skin, and they'll now be automatically added. This month, all efforts were focused on the Character and NPC menus, and aside from some bugs needing fixing, the menus are very close to completion! Taking inspiration from the Galaxy of Heroes mobile game, we were able to code the menu to better display the character, and for Jedi and Sith alike, coded them to hold their respective sabers. Hope you all had a great October! Let's get started! MENU OVERHAUL Removal of the First Person Lightsaber view that can be found in both Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast.Enhanced rendering of the Quake III: Team Arena engine, including dynamic glow features.Various bugfixes, gameplay tweaks and subtle changes (especially to the Multiplayer component).Decreased limitations on world objects in Multiplayer, enhancing modding possibilities (and making coop play theoretically possible).AI NPCs (not just bots, as before) in Multiplayer.Siege Mode: Players work to complete goals and stop the other team from completing their goals. The individual has more health and Force power in exchange for being at a disadvantage in numbers. Power Duel mode: Players join as an individual or as a team of two.New vehicles and vehicle-based levels, including Tauntauns and speeder bikes.A variety of saber hilts are also available. Four new weapons: DL-44 Blaster Pistol and Stouker Concussion Rifle, Saberstaff (double bladed lightsaber) and dual sabers.New lightsaber combat moves including katas, wall gripping, and acrobatics.New Force Powers in single player Force Absorb, Force Protect, Force Drain, and Force Rage (these powers were available in Jedi Outcast's multiplayer game, but not in the single player game.).For example, you can choose from several lightsaber colors and hilt types as well as from several species: Your character, Jaden, can be male or female and is customizable. After completing certain objectives, new saber styles become available.Ĭhanges From Jedi Outcast to Jedi Academy Players have the ability to construct their own lightsaber by choosing the hilt style and blade color. The game is powered by the same version of the Quake III engine used in its predecessor, Jedi Outcast, containing modifications to the Quake code to give a third-person view and new lightsaber effects (Jedi Knight II had these 3rd person effects as well). And considering the games are about simulating what it's like to be one of the last remaining Jedi, this would do a lot to immerse the player in that feeling.A spin-off of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy allows players to create their own Jedi, train in the Academy under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn and ultimately choose to follow the path of the Light Side or the Dark Side of the Force. Having means of replenishing health be hidden throughout the world instead of being in checkpoints or on Cal's person would make every fight feel like a life or death struggle that he just barely survives. However, this is not something that should be exactly replicated in Fallen Order 2 - this system was clearly built with Jedi Academy's mix of third-person/first-person shooter combat in mind and would not mesh well with the more methodical approach of lightsaber combat in Fallen Order. Even Dark Souls, for all the praise it receives for its difficulty, still lets the player heal themselves with items they can carry around, while Jedi Academy forces the player to make do with health pickups and stations littered throughout its many intricate maze-like levels. Even on the easiest difficulty setting, enemies hit with enough force to take valleys off of the health bar, and the shield bar only offers slight cushioning against it. Were one to go back to Jedi Academy today, the most striking thing about it would be how difficult it is, and how immediately it hits the player with its difficulty.
